Tuition Rates for Private Tutors.

Rate Sheet

The tables below show suggested rates for individual tuition. The unit of time used to determine rates is one hour, but tuition may also be given in multiples or fractions of this. The address of the pupil determines whether Region A or Region B rates apply.  If the pupil lives in Region A then the rates in Tables A1 and A2 should be used, if not then those in Tables B1 and B2 are applicable.

The tables below show the part of the total fee per hour retained by the tutor. The precise fee due to the tutor is a matter for negotiation between the tutor and their client, and these are recommended rates only.

Agency Commission

  • Agency Commission in Region A is £5.75 per hour.
  • Agency Commission in Region B is £5.50 per hour.
  • Commission due to the Agency for lessons given during a calendar month should be dispatched within 3 days of the end of that month.

Payment for Lessons Given

Tutors receive payment for their fee, and the agency commission, directly from the student at the end of each lesson. The tutor forwards any agency commission collected during a calendar month to us at the end of the month.

Simultaneous Tuition and Reduced-Rate Tuition

A tutor with two pupils from the same family taught simultaneously should charge about 10% more than the charge for individual tuition. For each further member of the same family taught simultaneously, charge a further 10% more than the individual rate up to a maximum of twice the individual rate. Agency commission is increased in the same proportion.

For simultaneous tuition of pupils from different families add 25% to the individual rate for each student up to twice the individual rate. Agency commission is increased in the same proportion.

Where an individual or group undertakes 25 hours or more of tuition in a calendar month, the total fee per hour should be reduced by 10%  and the agency commission by 20%.
